About the Role

Position Summary:
We’re seeking a passionate and thoughtful Volunteer Writer to contribute to Over the Rainbow, our LGBTQ+-centered health education platform. This role will focus on writing clear, engaging content that educates the LGBTQ+ community on essential healthcare topics while actively debunking medical misinformation.

Whether it's explaining hormone therapy basics, discussing mental health disparities, or tackling harmful myths, your words will empower individuals to make informed, confident healthcare decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
Research and write articles or blog posts (500–1,000 words) on LGBTQ+ health topics.
Help debunk harmful or misleading medical misinformation affecting the LGBTQ+ community.
Collaborate with nurses, advocates, and the editorial team to ensure accuracy and sensitivity.
Maintain inclusive, respectful, and evidence-based language in all content.
Stay informed on current events and healthcare trends impacting the LGBTQ+ community.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Strong writing skills with a clear, engaging voice.

  • Understanding of (or willingness to learn about) LGBTQ+ health disparities and issues.

  • Passion for health education, patient rights, and combating misinformation.

  • Ability to conduct credible research and cite reliable sources.

  • Prior writing, blogging, journalism, or editorial experience is a plus.

  • Lived experience within the LGBTQ+ community is highly valued but not required.
