About the Role

Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and proactive Volunteer Community Manager to help lead and support our Long Haulers Facebook Support Group. This group exists to provide encouragement, education, and community for individuals struggling with long-term symptoms following illness or medical injury. The Community Manager will help maintain a safe, respectful, and informative space for members, while fostering peer support and connection.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Moderate Community Discussions:
Monitor posts and comments to ensure respectful dialogue, accurate information, and adherence to group rules.
Remove inappropriate content and handle conflicts or violations in a calm, diplomatic manner.

Engage and Support Members:
Welcome new members and encourage introductions.
Respond to questions, share relevant resources, and facilitate conversation around common experiences and concerns.
Host weekly or bi-weekly check-ins, Q&A threads, or themed discussion days.

Collaborate with Leadership:
Communicate regularly with the American Frontline Nurses leadership team about group trends, concerns, or needs.
Help implement special projects, campaigns, or events relevant to long haulers and the group mission.

Promote Group Health:
Encourage positivity, peer support, and active engagement while minimizing misinformation and fear-based content.
Identify and refer members in crisis to appropriate resources, including health advocates or mental health support.

Maintain Privacy and Confidentiality:
Uphold ethical standards regarding member confidentiality and sensitive information.

Requirements


  • Personal experience with long haul illness, chronic health conditions, or advocacy work (not required, but a plus)

  • Experience with online community moderation or management

  • Strong communication, empathy, and conflict-resolution skills

  • Familiarity with Facebook group tools and features
